How we get the numbers

Every price here comes from a provider's own public price list. This page shows where, how often we read it, what we change on the way, and how often our prices agree with a second reading.

Accuracy by cloud

The latest daily check. A cross-source check compares our price with a separate publication of it. Where a cloud publishes its prices only once, we read that list again and compare: this catches errors in how we read and store prices, not errors in the source.

What we change on the way

Only what it takes to put every cloud on one scale.

Currency: Every price is in US dollars. Clouds that price in euros are converted at the European Central Bank reference rate of the day: 1.1205 dollars per euro on 22 Oct.
Month: 730 hours. Monthly figures are the hourly price × 730. Where a cloud caps a month (DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, Hetzner), the cap is kept and shown.
Per GPU: The price of the whole machine divided by its number of GPUs.
Spot: The cheapest availability zone in the region at the last read. Spot prices move; each figure carries its read time.
Reserved: The provider's published 1- and 3-year terms, shown as an effective hourly price for the payment option named next to it.
Rounding: Stored to 6 decimals as published. Hourly prices show 4 decimals, monthly prices 2.
Operating system: Linux unless another one is chosen.

What we know is missing or approximate.

Microsoft Azure list prices are not being read right now: the read did not finish. Pages leave these prices out rather than show old ones.
Google Cloud network prices are not being read right now: the provider requires an account key for this price list; we do not read it yet. Pages leave these prices out rather than show old ones.
Google Cloud storage prices are not being read right now: the provider requires an account key for this price list; we do not read it yet. Pages leave these prices out rather than show old ones.
Google Cloud machine prices come from instances.vantage.sh, an open catalog built from Google's billing catalog, because Google's own price API needs an account key. The daily check compares them with a second open catalog.
589 Google Cloud GPU prices (A2 and A3 machines outside us-central1) come from a third-party catalog by Cyclenerd, because Google’s pricing page lists these machines for us-central1 only. They are left out of the Google Cloud accuracy check: that catalog is also the second reading, so checking them against it would prove nothing.
113 Google Cloud GPU prices (H100 Mega, H200 and one A100 region) still use the us-central1 GPU rate, because no regional price is published for them.
Google Cloud C4N machines with local SSD are not checked: the second catalog prices their local SSD at the general rate, while Google’s own page lists the higher price we show.
Google Cloud C4 machines with local SSD in asia-southeast3 (22 prices) differ by about 8% between our source and the second catalog. Which one is right is not settled yet.
GPU marketplaces (Vast.ai) change by the minute; we publish the cheapest and median offer per GPU model, not each listing, and do not check them against a second source.

Changes to this method

23 Oct 2026Google Cloud A2 and A3 GPU prices outside us-central1 now come from a regional third-party catalog instead of the us-central1 rate; those prices and C4N local-SSD machines are left out of the Google Cloud accuracy check.
23 Oct 2026Daily accuracy check: a random sample of up to 200 current prices per cloud is compared with a second publication (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) or with the provider’s own list read again (the other clouds).
